Kinesiology
Kinesiologists provide functional assessment and treatment services for the rehabilitation of people suffering from physical injuries sustained at work, in automobile collisions, sports, and other life activities.
Kinesiology is the study of human movement. Kinesiologists provide exercise and lifestyle-based services to enhance your health. Active rehabilitation, which consists of the assessment of physical function followed by the implementation and progression of an individually structured and tailored exercise program to enhance and promote the safe and dependable return to an individual’s regular life activities.
We can also perform specialized services, such as biomechanical analysis of injury, conduct job demands analysis, and functional capacity evaluations in relation to an individual’s occupational requirements.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and is a minimally invasive approach to treating pain and a variety of health issues. Acupuncture treats the body as a whole, not just by treating the presenting condition by adding a “band aid.” Inserting very fine, sterile disposable needles superficially into specific points of the body can activate the vital life force, known as “qi,” pronounced “chi.” These points help the qi to encourage the body’s own innate healing abilities and help restore balance. Illness is said to be the consequence of an imbalance in qi.
Athletic Therapy
Athletic therapy is centered around providing effective treatment for injuries related to the musculoskeletal system, which includes muscles, bones, and joints. This is achieved through a combination of on-site care, injury assessment, and active rehabilitation. The Sports Medicine Model of care is the guiding principle for athletic therapists, who cater to a diverse patient population, ranging from professional athletes to individuals who engage in weekend sports activities.
To aid in the recovery process, athletic therapists utilize a range of techniques such as manual therapies, modalities, postural and biomechanical correction, exercise prescription, bracing, and taping. While the specific treatment methods may vary, the ultimate goal remains the same for all athletic therapists - to assist their clients in returning to their normal activities, whether that entails competitive sports or routine daily living.
The scope of practice of a Certified Athletic Therapist starts with the in-depth knowledge, education and training in the areas of the human musculoskeletal system, exercise physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and basic emergency care. Certified Athletic Therapists can be recognized by the credential CAT(C).
